Real estate listings routinely blur this, so it is worth stating plainly.
Freedom Park is a Mecklenburg County park located south of Dilworth, in the corridor between Dilworth and Myers Park along Little Sugar Creek. It is not within the Dilworth historic district, and a house "near Freedom Park" is not automatically a Dilworth house. Some are in Dilworth's 1911-era southern section, some are in Myers Park, and some are in Sedgefield or adjacent pockets — a distinction that matters for design review and for school assignment.
What is true is that the park functions as Dilworth's large-format green space. The neighborhood's own park, Latta Park, is a few acres of lawn, playground and courts wrapped in houses. It handles dog walks, toddlers and a picnic blanket. It does not handle a five-mile run, a soccer league, or a festival crowd. Freedom Park does.

A regional park on a neighborhood's doorstep
Freedom Park is among the most-used parks in Charlotte. Its central lake and paved loop are the visual signature and the reason the park shows up in so many photographs of the city. Around them are open lawns, athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, shelters, and a bandshell that anchors concerts and seasonal festivals.
It also functions as a link in a longer corridor: the Little Sugar Creek Greenway passes through the area, connecting a north–south route that Dilworth runners and cyclists use to reach Uptown in one direction and neighborhoods further south in the other.
